Using Your Sauna For Aromatherapy

A sauna is the perfect place to practice aromatherapy, the art of using scents and essential oils to better your body and your mind. You can add essences, made of essential oils, to the water in your sauna so the aroma is released in the steam, permeating throughout the sauna.

Sauna essences are a great sauna accessory, and can be purchased online, through catalogs, or wherever you can purchase aromatherapy products. You don't need to add too much oil to the water; a little bit goes a long way. Combine different oils for different scents and to achieve your desired effects.

The following essential oils are excellent choices for a sauna:

• Lavender essential oil – lavender is good to relax and harmonize, and smells wonderful
• Bergamot essential oil – bergamot relieves stress and soothes the mind
• Rosemary essential oil – rosemary eases muscle and joint aches
• Geranium essential oil – geranium has uplifting properties, and is good for PMS and anxiety
