Unlike traditional saunas, which use steam to heat the air around you, infrared saunas use far infrared ray radiation to directly heat the body and penetrate the skin. Heaters in the sauna (which usually looks like a traditional sauna) generate radiant heat that warms the body and stimulates body tissue.
Infrared saunas produce natural heat – much like the warmth you feel when sunbathing, but without the UV rays. Since the heat is natural and with no UV, you can spend hours in an infrared sauna but your skin will not burn like it does in the sun.
The warmth provided by infrared saunas causes your body to release toxins, which are the root of many medical problems. This release of toxins can make your blood circulate better, chronic pain go away, and give you an overall sense of better health.
